This free-to-join organization offers a community platfrom for percussion teachers to share ideas, discuss methods, and learn how to better implement multi-media and new technologies into their teaching practices.

The Hudson Music Teacher Integration Program focuses on how drum instruction video can help improve and expand teaching drums and Drum Education. A sort of “Drumming Lessons for Teachers”, the Hudson Teacher Integration Program is a community for giving advice on using new media such as drum mp3’s, drum lesson video and instructional drum video in your drum education.

My name is Scott Thompson and I live and work in rural Western China. My small town, Dujiangyan (pronounced, doo jang in), became famous from the Sichuan Earthquake on May 12th, 2008. I have been teaching English in China for the past four years. When I came to China in August 2006, I brought only the necessities: 11 cases of books and 16 cases of drums.

On Sunday April 11th the Drummers Collective in New York City will team up with Hudson Music’s Teacher Integration Program to present a full day of seminars, clinics and master classes tailored specifically for drumset teachers. Beginning at 9:30 a.m. and running until approximately 5:00 p.m., this is a rare opportunity to learn from and interact with many of the leading teachers and players of today. Getting Motor-vated Part 1 -Rhythmic Ideas for Teaching

The Motor-vation idea is something I adapted from inventor, drummer, and educator Bob Gatzen. I replaced the word “motivate” with “Motor-vate” which means to move ahead, and continue progressing in positive forward motion. This applies to both drumming and life. So in my quest for new teaching ideas and methods to Motor-vate students, I came up with something for teaching rhythms.

Claus Hessler currently teaches at the University for Music and Performing arts in Frankfurt, as well as two other conservatories in Germany.
